How to activate international roaming?

For prepaid subscribers: Use self-activation i.e Dial *140# and select option 3 before leaving the country. For postpaid subscribers: Visit any of our Econet shops and fill in a roaming application form indicating the services required when roaming

What do I do upon arrival in a foreign country?

Simply switch on your phone and it will automatically pick a signal of any network in that country. From there on you will be able to use your phone as if you are in Zimbabwe. If phone does not pick up automatically, please has do a manual network search and pick any of our live roaming partners as per list supplied.

How do I make a call

For all international calls always prefix with the country code as you do when calling from Zimbabwe. Remember to also prefix with (+263) for all calls to Zimbabwe. Example +263 77 123 4567.

How do I send messages?

Please ensure that the message centre number is +263770010502. To set message centre number on iOS devices, dial **5005*7672*+263770010502#. For android, Dial *#*#4636#*#*, Under Phone Information, update SMSC to +263770010502. Recipient phone number should be in international format e.g. +263771234567

How do I access data?

Data roaming is limited to postpaid subscribers only. Ensure that APN is set to econet.net.

How do I get billed?

For Prepaid subscribers charging is in real time i.e. airtime is deducted as and when you receive and make calls. For Postpaid subscribers, customers receive a bill at the end of the month.

How do I recharge on prepaid?

Option 1: You can use physical Buddie recharge cards to recharge. Dial *121*recharge pin key# to recharge Option 2: Top up using EcoCash Option 3: You can have someone in Zimbabwe electronically transfer Buddie airtime to you, via point of sale terminals in any of Econet shops.
